- Coffee-machine is broken; Dave will consider options
- There are no more creamers or milk; Jen will purchase and then be reimbursed
- Kendra will purchase toner and be reimbursed
- Switching banks from Desjardins to a closer branch was unanimously approved by the counsel; Jordan needs to research options
- The student conference will be held the 28th, 29th of March and the 1st of April; at least $500 must be set aside for this
- Volunteers are needed, particularly for French/English posters; Joe will do this
- The counsel was pressed to come up with fundraising ideas
- Jen and Mary will organize the Halloween party
- The Dominican College will be raising money for United Way again this year; there are strong objections from some about the moral integrity of the charity but the college is still asking for volunteers
- Dominican has a women’s safety program in which girls with night classes can take a taxi home, pay for the taxi, bring the receipt to the school and be reimbursed through a government fund
- Dave and Mike will announce this program in various classes
- Thursday mass in English is in question; Jen and I will try to get feedback from students in philosophy, Dave will question the theology students
- The Dominicans will be rearranging lockers and want to know if everyone who wants one has one; counsel members should question students about this
- The counsel is still missing a French theology representative
- Joe Zamboni is releasing his second CD and the college will be hosting the release party
- Jonathan will serve as the forum administrator
- The counsel is urged to come up with ideas on how to bring the philosophy and theology students together; suggestions so far have included an ongoing poker tournament and movie night
- The Companions of the Cross also have access to a school gym so intramural sports teams were considered

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

- It was resolved that the counsel will meet every two weeks; the next meeting will therefore be on the 18th of October
- Dave has organized for the coffee machine to be fixed on the 5th of this month
- The date and agenda for the Halloween party are still uncertain
- An ink cartridge was found in the ACTO office and was subsequently installed in the library printer
- Several counsel members need to spend time sorting through the files in the ACTO office
- Hockey/dodge ball games were suggested as possible activities to bring theology and philosophy students together; a movie over lunch (where snacks and drinks could also be sold) is also being considered
- Permission is being sought for being able to hold a movie over lunch where snacks and drinks will be sold; a tentative first date for this is the 7th of November, and would be held weekly on Wednesday

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

- Couldn’t arrange for meeting at bank on Thursday; did get the letter from Maxime authorizing change, however. Jordan will continue to try and get a hold of the Scotia Bank manager; possible times for appointments are early Wednesday or the Thursday after next.
- A Halloween celebration will be held on Wednesday, the 31st, in Albert the Great Hall, starting at 11:30 A.M. and held over lunch. Pop, water, juice and candy will be provided ($100 authorized) and there will be decorations as well as pumpkins for a carving contest.
- The administration has realized the necessity of enforcing the city bylaws which forbid smoking near entrances to public buildings; all smokers must now walk out to the street to smoke.
- The administration was frustrated about a particular instance of food and drink in the classroom—an apology has been made and the administration will not enforce the law forbidding this.
- Maxime approved watching short films at lunch as well as eating and drinking in Albert the Great; the first get-together will be November 6th. Members of the counsel are to bring DVDs for the first meeting and e-mail Dave their suggestions; Dave will also purchase popcorn.
- Mike Clarke will e-mail Dave the results of the survey held last year and Dave will distribute the appropriate parts to the appropriate counsel members.
- Counsel members need to start publicizing about the graduate tutoring which is available
- Tremblay says his door is open for student confessions and one can also make appointments with him
- Counsel members, speaking on behalf of the students, want the library to stay open later, ideally to 11pm.
- The possibility of a retreat exists, but certain alterations need to be made from last year’s itinerary.

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

- Treasurer Jordan Worek paid Mary Smith $100 for expenses relating to the Halloween party, specifically pumpkins, decorations and candy
- Joe also had expenses for posters for the party but his receipts were for small amounts and he will be paid at a later date all at once, seeing as he will be in charge of posters for future events
- A movie will be showing next Tuesday at lunch; the counsel will make announcements to the student body
- Wednesday after class (4:30PM) a praise and worship session will be led by Dave in the student room
- We still need creamers; it was suggested that we order them through the kitchen since they get significant discounts by buying in bulk
- Jordan Worek will keep in touch with Professor McNaught concerning the possibility of a small conference by contacts of his, specifically concerning ethics and terrorism
- The counsel was asked to help advertise the concert being held in the church on November 30th to raise money for the school

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

- Five people attended the lunchtime movie on Tuesday with others coming to socialize afterwards; the events will now be occurring every Tuesday
- The counsel has been once again encouraged to advertise for the upcoming concert on the 30th of this month
- Prizes will be awarded to those students who sell the most tickets; most tickets will be sold online where there is a comment box asking who referred you to the concert
- Announcements in parishes are also suggested
- It has been requested that the school library remain open an extra two hours at night (till 11pm); the Dominicans have given approval but the counsel must find volunteers. Mary and Jen have volunteered and will rotate their duties.

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

- Rainman has not been present at meetings for over a month so Jordan will take over responsibility of posting the minutes for these meetings on the Dominican College forum
- There is still no cream in the downstairs fridge
- A newsletter (Rainman’s job) has not been created due to his absence so it will be postponed until the beginning of next semester
- As Dominican is currently without a finance minister, Jordan will talk to Maxime about getting counsel dues in time for the Christmas party
